Abstract

Explicit Wannier functions for the Kronig-Penney model are determined. In the discussion the authors emphasize phase choices connected with maximally localized Wannier functions, here denoted Wannier-Kohn functions, and the tight-binding limit of Wannier-Kohn functions that do not approach atomic bound states.
